Why is faggot not accepted when it is in all dictionaries?
0

A FAGGOT is a meatball, or a bundle of sticks.
It is in EVERY dictionary.
I think zynga is being politically correct and weeding out words that for whatever reason it believes have too 'adult' pejorative interpretations for its players. It needs to learn that the game players ARE mostly adults and do not need to be interfered with in this way.
Same goes for WOG - it is an abbreviation of a child's doll.
Same goes for JEW.
wtf?!

Yes, these guys definitely censor words that are in everyday usage. Basically if a word has a 'rude' meanining they remove it from the dictionary, regardless that it is a well-known words.
That said, they leave words like TWAT, which is only pejorative and has no non-abusive meaning.

Keep in mind that there *are* children playing this game... I have two regular opponents who tell me that they are approximately age 10 and they talk that way too. So that's one reason why I can understand Zynga wanting to keep their wordlist on the family-friendly side.
Hasbro was in a similar position when people complained about their Official Scrabble Player's Dictionary. As I understand it, the protests started when somebody noticed that the word JEW was defined as a racial epithet in the OSPD... which is what it is when it is uncapitalized and used as a verb. Many more protests came from other Scrabble players who didn't want to have vulgarity, racial slurs and other "bad" words in the dictionary they used for their family games. On the other hand, people who played Scrabble competitively in tournaments like we do with WWF had basically the same objections to sanitizing the OSPD that you do with Zynga's wordlist. In the end, a compromise was worked out where the "bad" words were removed from the OSPD and they were still included in the Tournament Word List that players used in competition where no definitions were included.
Perhaps one day, there will be enough of a demand for a version of WWF that has the "bad" words included for competitors or anyone else who wants a more adult version of Zynga's wordlist for whatever reason. But as long as there is only one version of the game that Zynga will have an interest in keeping palatable to the widest variety of people, you will probably continue to see "bad" words being censored out.

Of course one wonders why using that logic "SHIT" (BULLSHIT, BULLSHITS, BULLSHITTED, BULLSHITTING, CHICKENSHIT, CHICKENSHITS, HORSESHIT, HORSESHITS, SHAT, SHITHEAD, SHITHEADS, SHITS, SHITTED, SHITTIER, SHITTIEST, SHITTING, SHITTY), "PISS" (PISS, PISSED, PISSER, PISSERS, PISSES, PISSING), COCKSUCKER (COCKSUCKERS), "BOLLOCKS" (BOLLIX, BOLLIXED, BOLLIXES, BOLLIXING, BOLLOCKS, BOLLOX, BOLLOXED, BOLLOXES, BOLLOXING), "COCK" (BLACKCOCK, BLACKCOCKS, COCKS), and "ASSHOLE" (ASSHOLES) are all still valid.
In addition, "slut" is censored out. So shit is ok. Slut is not. ???
This week was rape, raped, tit, titties, arse, urine, fart, gay, bi (which is officially a prefix)..
.but oddly"noone" was missing (it does not mean the same thing, grammatically as "no one" which is a commonly misused version.)
2 versions need to exist. the Family version for the kids, and the REAL full version for us adult word hounds.
Thanks

That's because those minority groups have made such a stink about silly words that now people feel like they have to censor our words with the hopes of censoring our thoughts.
