I need clarification on monthly game rules

...and I can't seem to piece it together between answers to questions of the Monthly Rules posted. In one answer, the problem is that one player started a game and their opponent started a second game. You responded that since they need to play at least two games, they should play BOTH. In another answer, you say rules state opponents should each start a game simultaneously and play both (meaning two separate games with same opponent being played at same time). I'm new to Monthly, and thought: that's a great idea to assure the round is completed in time. But I did not see that in the official rules and so had been assuming we play each game in linear fashion. Went to rules, and can't find explicit reference to this. Can you please point it out to me and, if you can be more explicit, can you do so? Ie step 1, step 2. Youve got 550 registered as of today and I cant be the only newbie. Coming from Daily challenge, the concept that each of us is to begin a game and have TWO games playing at once is new to me...love it! If there are any other 'implicit' rules you think may not be clear to a newcomer, I appreciate your patience in explaining what isn't crystal clear from the Official Rules (post or your toast is crystal clear btw). I don't want to ruin anyone's experience with my ignorance. Thanks.

The Monthly Tournament is the best two out of three games. It is up to the opponents to decide if they would like to play two games simultaneously. Each player should start one of the first two games. In that way, one does not have an advantage over the other as they both started a game.

Playing two games at once speeds up the process especially if the opponents have limited time to play.
