I just played the word "export" and got only 8 points, how is that possible if the 'x' was placed on a triple letter?

Was the "x" a blank? If so, there are no points awarded for a blank.

Yes it was, that must be why. I didn't realize that until now. Thanks!
I think blanks ought to be afforded at least one point.  I mean, I realize that they offer a benefit to the user but even the most common and ridiculously easy to use letter tiles get one point each.
I respectfully disagree. A blank is a total 'freebie' that can be wielded to tremendous advantage---that's its real value. And no matter how ridiculously easy a letter may be to use, none are as easy as 'I'll be whatever letter you need me to be right at this moment...'

If you reserve your blanks for strategic advantages (to reach a TW space for ex), or until you need just one more letter for a bingo, rather than treating it like any other letter, I think you'll soon agree.
"I'll be whatever letter you need me to be right at this moment..." sounds like an old boyfriend of mine. :-)
Not only are there no points for a blank, but keep a watchful eye on subsequent turns and look for the blanks so you don't add onto a word thinking you will get those point too!
